Childhood

Dima Bilan was born on 24 December 1981. He spent his childhood in Karachaevo-Cherkezia. When Dima was a year , his family consisting of four members moved to his grandmother s place the city Naberejnie Chelni in the Republic of Tartarstan.

"I went to the kindergarten with my sister there. Unlike her I seldom attended to the kindergarten because there was a splendid opportunity to stay at home. My grandmother being crazy about me looked at my tricks with affection for which I had to stand in the corner in the kindergarten.."

Boy s extraordinary aptitude for music was noticed just at that period of time. He arranged real concerts for neighbors in the flight of stairs. When he was six years old, his family moved to Kabardina-Balkaria where he went to school with his sister. He participated in all parties and morning performances, recited poems, sang songs there.

I accepted my first applause in the second ground in the canteen during lunch. At the height of long recess I stood up suddenly and began to sing "Prekrasnoe Daleko" (Wonderful future). Noise was ceasing gradually and even those I had just played tricks on were staring at me with open mouths. The song was over and after a second pause silence was blown up by storm of applause.

Musical school

After several months a teacher from a local musical school came into the classroom with request to listen to pupils. Being delighted by Dimas song "Vo pole bereza stoyala"(Birch in the field), she announced that the boy indeed must study music. But Dima s parents wanted for their son a terrestrial and a claimed profession therefore his musical education did not begin at one stroke. When Dima studied in the fifth form he was admitted to the musical school at once but beforehand permission of his parents had been necessary . Dimas sister helped to settle the problem deciding not to leave the brother alone and parents had to recede. Thus Dima began to study in the class of accordion and was the soloist in children s chorus as well.

Dima's debut

Then there were children competitions, festivals, concerts of local character and other attributes of the promising singer. First the actor visited Moscow for participation in the festival "Chunga-Changa" dedicated to the children s creativity and Ureas Entina and Davids Tuchmanov thirty-year of joint activity when he was in the tenth form.

Dima remembers about his first arrival with horror: everything was new, strange, nobody met, it was cold, snowed with rain, they wandered whole day to find the address of festival. Ten-day program was full of excitement, meeting and joyful experiences. Dima received diploma from Iosifs Kabzon hands, then he had to return home. After a month, on the eve of 1999 unexpectedly he received an invitation from Alla the girl whom he met in the festival to see the New Year in the capital. Next trip to Moscow was after leaving secondary and musical schools, when Bilan went to enter the special school by Gnesini, the class of vocal. The beginning singer lived two years at Alla s place but when he was in his second year he left home to live in the hostel. The actor had to earn his living in the shop United Colors Of Benetton at nights and in the morning he went to classes to realize his creative wishes parallel. It was hard period.

Meeting with producer Yuri Aizenshpis

In his third year Dima with his girlfriend and classmate Sasha Savelova ( then she became a winner at Fabrica zvezd"(Stars Factory ) met with Yuri Aizenhshpis in the party YES . I understood it was a chance which mustn t be missed and I just began singing. I was noticed. Knowing that wished ones like me were thousands, Yuri Shmilevich Aizenshpis gave me his telephone number. Later they met in the studio where Ileas Zudin ( from the group Dynamite) composition Baby had not been involved. After Dima had sung this composition everyone admitted his extraordinary talent unanimously. Next stage was Jurmala.

Preparation for the competitive program, selection rounds in Metelica and continuous work on own material took several months. Meanwhile first musical clip from the new program Bum was released. Having passed all the selection rounds successfully, Dima left for the festival . Jurmala first of all associated with rest became a real trial of strength: it was not time for entertainment there, rehearsals on the stage all day long continued in the room of the hotel. The result of stubborn struggle was the forth place. In autumn a recording of the material continued to provide a valuable concert program. The first clip and songs had been already appeared on TV, but it was necessary to develop. In due course a recorded song and a clip Night hooligan put Dima forward to a new level of his creative career. This song reflects exactly spiritual condition of the actor at that period of time and namely after it Dima became recognized. The work became more interesting: at the final exams in Gnesink Bilan already had three clips: Bum, "Nochnoy Huligan"(Night hooligan) and Ti tolko ti"(You and only you). For his last exam the singer directly came from the clip-making platform, from releasing of his forth roller "Ya oshibsya, ya popal"(I was mistaken, I was lost ). In 2003 Dima left the special school in Gnesinsk. In Summer 2004 he received a diploma from the hands of national actor USSR Iosif Kobzon in the solemn ceremony and deciding to gain more achievements he entered GITIS (State Institute of Theatrical Art ), the faculty for active skills, the second course at once.

"Urmala"

In Summer 2003 he was always on the concert move to the resort cities together with the group Dynamite . In Jurmala in the capacity of a special guest the actor took on the shooting of his new romantic clip for the song "Ya tak tebya lublu"( I love you so much) with Igor s Krutoy daughter Vika from participation.

"Night hooligan"

At the end of October presentation of the debut album of the singer "Ya nochnoy houligan" (I am a night hooligan) took place in the entertainment complex Arlekino . The program went on lively with participation of the group "Palata luks" (Chamber lux). There were compositions within the framework of popular music with elements of R&B and 2Step, as well the famous songs liked by listeners on the disk. In that evening Otpetiye moshenniki (Inveterate swindlers ), Slivki (Plumps), Fabrica (Factory), Korni ( Roots ) participated, there was also huge dancing support from "Grupa zachvata" (Special Control Group) on the stage. Dimas duet with Darina the young singer of R&B sounded as well. They sang the song I can not live without you jointly in respect to which the proper clip was released. Immediately after participation in the programme Factor of Fear in Argentine where Bilan had to ride a bicycle in the height of 40 meter on the thin rope, then to eat a strawberry in the company of flies, shooting of a video for the song Mulatto girl followed at the end of March 2004 in a deserted elevator not far from Savelovski station.

Between the Heaven and the sky

In summer 2004 Dima Bilan went to Venice to shoot a roller for a lyric composition "Na beregu neba"(Between the Heaven and the sky). Shootings were held by participation of foreign professionals, including Giannenrico Bianchi the Italian operator and the girl named Jari the main hero. Yuri Aizenshpis also took part in the shooting of the clip. After working weekdays the singer flied to Turkey to have a deserved rest.

In September 2004 Dimas debut succeeded in advertisement. He was shot in the roller Tele2: he played in the capacity of a student chattering over the mobile phone straight at the lecture . The roller turned out to be funny. By the way incendiary "Mulatka"(Mulatto girl) sounds in the advertisement.

On 14 October 2004 presentation of the second album Between the Heaven and the sky took place in the Night Club Infiniti. In the recording of this album the following foreign composers participated: Shaun Escoffery, Diane Warren working more than 20 years with great figures of global stars: we see among them Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Mary J. Blige, Ricky Martin and others. It was she the author of the legendary ballad "Un-break my heart" sung by Tony Braxton and a super hit by Aerosmith "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing". Bilan appeared in the capacity of an author with two songs: Voda, pesok"(Water, Sand) and "Kak Romeo"(As Romeo). There were a lot of VIP-guests in the party: Vladimir Vinakur, Lev Leshenko, Marat Saphin, Pavel Bure, Kate Lel, Jasmin, Premier Minister , Janna Friske ( she is said to come from ship to a dancing party straight after "Poslednih geroy"(The last hero), Blestyashiye , Ksusha Borodina and Ksenia Sobchak, Otar Kushanashvili, certainly Dynamite and others.

Under head of Yuri Aizenshpis who had foreseen an appearance of the album in the English language, Dima began to cooperate with "Mr. English" the biggest school of the English language in Russia. We do not stand at the same place, we have already prepared a starting platform for future world release. I hope it is at hand. I am very grateful to the company "Mr. English" , namely to Alchinovs (especially to Yanochka). Yana played the main role in Dima s clip "Pozdravlyau"(Congratulations).

After several months, the shooting of the next roller, actor s hit composition "Ti doljna ryadom bit"(You must be close to me) started. Gosha Toidze the producer of the clip together with Vlad Opelyanc created a new style in Russian clip making. All attempts were not useless, the clip You must be close to me appeared in the first positions of the national charters. After successful rotation of the song many offers had been accepted from Tele and broadcast channels. Only in Spring for photo sessions the actor photographed in such famous magazines as Cosmopolitan , Elle , FHM , Atmosphera . Shooting lasted two days, there were special facilities for the decoration of the pavilion in "Mosfilm" studio for the clip. At that period Dima began to cooperate with "La Scala Fashion Group" and "Franck Provost". In the world of Russian show- business fuss concerning the preparation for Euro view 2005 has begun. Having won selection rounds Bilan qualified for the finals. In the opinion of professional jury Dima was in the first position but according to results of SMS voting it became cleared that Natalia Podolskaya who afterwards presented Russia in the final in Kiev took the lead for several points. Dima took part in several festivals in spite of dense tour schedule through Russia.

One of the significant undertakings was the festival "Pyat zvezd"(Five stars). Among its organizers the most rating channels were First, Russia, MTV Russia in addition to it Russian broadcast and Europe plus the popular Russian radio stations supported too.Bilan had the honor to be as a respected guest of the festival. But time passes one can not live only by festivals , it is necessary to be engaged in the creativity. That is why communicating with Yuri Shmilevich they decide to shoot a new clip. A song was chosen at once, the stake was made on trek "Kak chotel ya"(How much I wanted). Shootings took place in Panama, budget was big anyhow according to Russian standards. Gosha Toidze was a producer and Vlad Opelyanc was an operator. Clip turned out to be crazy, owing to joint attempts the song entered hot trek lists of Russian radio stations.

After business trip to Panama, exactly in some days Dima was invited to the shooting of a new reality-show of the First channel. Show called Empire was shot in Poland, near Warsaw. The following well- known people were participants: Jirinovski, Shandibin, Apeksimova, Janna Friske, Masha Malinovskaya and others. All of them were divided between rich and poor ones. In the first competition Bilan succeeded to lead the way and to receive the status of the king but after several days due to Vladimir s Volfovich political skill Dima again showed in the side of poor ones. It could last long but I decided to leave it together with Masha Malinovskaya and return home because intrigues were not part of mine. Especially I had some deeds at home on which I was short of time.

On 20 September at the age of 61 Yuri Shmilevich Aizenshpis died from heart attack. I am grateful to Yurih Shmilevich for everything he had done for me. He was a great person and a producer. He impressed greatly on my life and creativity.

Triumph on MTV

On 21 September the ceremony of presenting premiums of MTV- Russian Music Awards took place in Vasilevskih descent. Bilan received two awards: as the best performer and actor of a year. After show the singer sang all his hits in Zamoscvoreckom Bridge. In conclusion Dima performed the hymn of RF together with other artists. After several days DVD "TI tolko ti"(You only you) had been released which included two presentations of the actor s albums, clips, photos and interviews. In October Dima took part in the program "Serdso Afriki"(Heart of Africa ). He was as an expert there. Forgetting to receive a prophylactic vaccination against tropic illnesses and in consequence because of stings of insects Dima left for show. But everything turned out to be good and the singer returned satisfied from travelling.

On 3 November Bilan went to Lisbon to present Russia in the ceremony Europe Music Awards . In December 2005 Dima received two golden gramophones for the song "Ti doljna ryadom bit" (You must be close to me) in Saint Petersburg and Alma Ata. During shootings of "Novie pesni o glavnom"(New songs about the main thing) he received a grand prize of the First channel from the professional jury.

Dima became a man of a year in the sphere of show- business because the most voters gave their voices for him according to the version of Rambler.. At the end of a year he accepted an invitation from an American agency to sound treks for the musicale Peter Pan. In December a clip for the lyric composition "Ya pomnu tebya" (I remember you) was shot in the Botanic garden. The roller proved to be fantastic and magic which correspond to atmosphere of the New Year Eve.

2005 became for Dima Bilan both as a triumphal and a sorrowful year in his career. That is why the third album presentation of which will be in prospect in April 2006 will be dedicated to the first and unique Russian producer Yuri Shmilevich Aizenshpis.

On 14 March 2006 Dima Bilan took part in "Zolotaya sharmanka"(Golden street organ) of "International Music Awards" in Kiev where he got an award as "The singer of a year". Dimas incendiary song "Never let you go" sounded just there.

Eurovision-2006

On 14th of March, 2006 in Kiev Dima Bilan took part in the International Musical Award "The Gold Street Organ" where he received the award as the Artist of the Year. The super song "Never Let You Go" was presented there for the first time.

The jury chose Dima Bilan to represent Russia in Eurovision Song Contest 2006. The selected song "Never Let You Go" was not chosen by case, it has justified all hopes and became a world hit. The composer: Alexander Lunev, the author of lyrics: Karen Kavalerian. In the semifinal Dima performed at number 13. Despite all prejudices of unhappy number, Dima successfully passes to the final. On 20th of May, 2006 in the final of "Eurovision-2006" Dima Bilan took the honourable second place, conceding only Finland.

On 3rd of June, 2006 at the contest of videoclips "Euro Video Grand Prix" that took place in Tirana (capital of Albania). Dima Bilan with his video "Never Let You Go" took the 5th place.

Dima Bilan got the Russian Of The Year" prize in nomination The Hope of Russia" made-up by special decision of the President's Advisory Council.
The ceremony took place on 6th of June, 2006 in the big conference hall of administration of the President. Dima Bilan thanked everyone who supported him at "Eurovision Song Contest", and expressed his gratitude to native republics - Karachaevo-Circassia and Kabardino-Balkariyas.

The presentation of the 3rd album - "Time Is The River"

From October, 2005 Yana Rudkovskaya stretches her hand of help for Dima Bilan. Within 8 months of persistent work the professional team is created, and the active promotion of the singer starts.
The result of everyday back-breaking toil has not kept itself waiting so long, and Dima Bilan takes the honourable second place at the international competition "Eurovision-2006". And on 21st of July, 2006 the presentation of a long-awaited third album took place in MoscowAcademic theatre of Mayakovskiy. Action is declared as musical performance "Time Is The River", based on the idea of Yana Rudkovskaya. The Art-Director of the event became the honored worker of Greece Fokas Evagelinos. The stage designer - honored artist of Russia Herman Zarjankin. Choreography was created by honored art worker Peter Korogodsky (Theatre of Russian ballet), prima ballerina Maria Korogodskaja. Dancing support - a team from England "Gary Lloyd", at various times they worked with well-known singers, as Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Robbie Williams, Anastacia, Beyonce, S Club 7, Spice Girls, Pink, Sheri, Victoria Beckham.

Leading part of the performance was given to the "Honored Artist of Kabardino-Balkariya" Victor Belan, and the theatre of Mayakovskiy was renamed for one evening into "Castle-theatre of Dima Bilan". Walls of foyer have veiled newspaper publications and posters with the image of the singer. On walls' baguets there were images of Dima and his close friends, and also with his first producer - Jury Aizenshpis. Present friends and admirers among whom were Nikolay Baskov, Sergey Zverev, Jury Nikolaev, Valentine Yudashkin, Irakliy Perchelava, Nadegda Babkina, Julia Nachalova, Alexey Mitrofanov and other celebraties were very happy to come there.
This summer the magazine "Forbes" has published a rating of the most popular Russian celebrities where an honourable "bronze" place has borrowed Dima Bilan. Leader of Top-50 became Maria Sharapova. On the second place - the prima donna of the Russian stage Alla Pugacheva. "Forbes" estimated stars by three criteria - incomes for the year, attention of mass media and interest that the star causes in public. Getting into this list was always considered as prestigious and important event.

Rma 2006

On 21st of September 2006 Dima Bilan got two matreshka dolls on Ceremony MTV RMA'06: in the nomination " Best Song" with his single "Never Let You Go".
It`s the best song because Dima took 2nd place on Eurovision 2006! The second matreshka for the 2nd year Dima got in the nomination "Best Artist", and that means a lot. On 2nd of November Dima Bilan will introduce Russia on the Ceremony MTV Europe Music Awards in Copenhagen (Denmark), he will do it also for the second time.

On 4st of October 2007 Dima Bilan got to tree matreska dolls on Ceremony MTV RMA 2007:
in the nomination "Best Song" with his single "Nevozmohnoe Vozmohno"(Impossible is possible) and next matresha Dima Bilan got in nomination "Best Singer". Best Singer is a new matreska with Dima Bilan. Last year(2006) matreska got to Sergey Lazarev. And 3st matresha name is "Best artist". Best artist is a very important matresha.
On Ceremony MTV RMA 2007 Dima Bilan sing to 3 songs:
1. Number One Fan Dima Bilan sing with brother Timbaland - Sebastian.
2. Amnesia. Amnesia is a new song,
3. Impossible is possible.
On 4st November Dima Bilan go to on Ceremony European Music Awards (Munich Germany)
This is a main ceremony of MTV Europe. Dima Bilan is the Best!
